How is Sound Made? |
Sounds are made by vibration. When something vibrates it creates waves that pass through the air to your ears.
Musical instruments make sounds by striking, blowing, plucking or by playing with a bow.
Some sounds are created electronically.
How will your instrument make sounds?
Tip: If you use a resonator,
such as a box of some kind, your instrument will sound
louder because the vibrations bounce around inside the box
and become amplified. Try to make your instrument as
sturdy as possible. Look for the strongest kind of box you
can find. Wooden boxes are good. Shoe boxes are better than
tissue boxes. Use strong glue or strong tape rather than
scotch tape, for example. Decorate your instrument neatly
and with original designs.
