Shake, Rattle, and Roll

It is made out of a wrapping paper tube, rice, circular tops of Tupperware, tape, rubber bands, and newspaper. I started making my instrument by getting a wrapping paper tube and painting it bright colors. Next I let the paint dry. When it was completely dry I put one Tupperware top on one end of the tube. Then I rolled two pieces of newspaper together and crumpled them. After I crumpled them I wrapped rubber bands and tape around the newspaper to hold it together. As soon as the newspaper was prepared, I put it in the tube and poured in the rice. Finally, I put the other Tupperware top on the other end. The sound was produced by the rice rubbing against the newspaper as it fell to the bottom of the tube. The newspaper kept the rice from falling to the bottom so quickly.
