THE DRUMATAR

The “Drumatar” is a string and percussion instrument, like a drum and guitar combined.

It is made out of a shoebox, paper towel roll, rubber bands, duct tape and plastic bottles.

It is a member of the string family because plucking the strings causes them to vibrate producing its sound.

Each of the rubber bands is a different thickness, changing its pitch. The thicker the rubber band, the lower the sound and the thinner, the higher.

It is a member of the percussion family because tapping the top or sides of the bottle with a pencil causes them to vibrate producing its sound.
