Bottle Blues

by Molly S.

Materials: Bottles, water, paint, glue

How to make the sound: Blow across the mouth of the bottle.

Procedure: I took three different size bottles and then I painted them. I put different levels of water in the bottles to change the pitch.

The volume is changed by blowing harder of softer across the mouth of the bottle. The bigger the bottle is, the lower the pitch. The smaller the bottle, the higher the pitch. Also, if you add water to the bottle, it makes the pitch higher.

Final Note: I experimented with a lot of different instruments before I found one I liked.
