The Colored Harp by Taylor K., 4th grader at Meadowview Elementary School

My instrument is called the colored harp because it is very, very colorful. My dad had to cut the wood but then I drilled the holes and sanded it good. Once that was done I decided to paint it all different colors and that is how I got the name. I had to wait for the paint to dry for a day. We tried to use music wire for strings but it was too expensive so we used fishing line which worked well. The strings that I pluck with my fingers produce the sound. Also you can make the sound with a plucker piece like a pencil or a paper clip. The sound comes fromt he strings vibrating back and forth when you pluck them. The strings are different lengths which make different sounds. I learned a lot from making my instrument.
