The Colored Harp by Taylor K., 4th grader at Meadowview Elementary School |

My instrument is called the colored harp because it is very, very colorful. My dad had to cut the wood but then I drilled the holes and sanded it good. Once that was done I decided to paint it all different colors and that is how I got the name. I had to wait for the paint to dry for a day. We tried to use music wire for strings but it was too expensive so we used fishing line which worked well. The strings that I pluck with my fingers produce the sound. Also you can make the sound with a plucker piece like a pencil or a paper clip. The sound comes fromt he strings vibrating back and forth when you pluck them. The strings are different lengths which make different sounds. I learned a lot from making my instrument. |
