My instrument is a banjo. It belongs to the strings family. It looks kind of like other banjos. It does not make too much sound.

Dad and I used materials from Dad's scrap wood box. We used wood and pieces of peg board with fishing line for string.

Dad cut the wood and nailed most of it. The next step was to sand it. After it was sanded I chose red, blue, and tan paint to paint it. It had to dry before the strings could be put on.

You play the instrument by moving your fingers over the strings. The volume of pitch cannot be changed. There is only one way to play it. We had trouble finding string that would make a sound.

My favorite part was painting. It was fun, but hard work to get it to play.
