"The
Thumb Harp" by Julayne
chose this instrument because I thought it would be
interesting and fun. This instrument was made by my Dad and me. First, my
dad cut six pieces of wood to form the box. My Dad used the drill to make
the sound holes. Then we used pieces of an old chair to make the part
that holds the tines. Then I sanded the box and the pieces of chair and Dad
and I stained the wood together. After that, we added the tines and screwed
on the top piece of wood. The sound is produced by striking a key on the panel.
You can change the sound by tightening and loosening the keys. To me
it sounds like wind chimes swaying in the summer breeze.
