My instrument is
called the spirit caller. My spirit caller is made from
wood. I made the pattern and we put the pattern on top of
the wood, and my Dad cut it with a saw. My Dad took it to
work to drill a hole in it for me. He put it in his coat
and lost his coat at work so we had to start all over again.
I spray painted my
spirit caller silver on one side and gold on the other. Then
my Mom got some rub-on transfers of fish, feathers, beads,
and some leather string at Wal-Mart. I put all of the items
on. The name of my
instrument came from a Native American group called the
Iroquois. They used it in their peace dance. When you spin
it around, the wind catches it and makes a whistling sound.
The spirit caller whistles,"Then he may now go to the land
of many lodges, sing, dance and be happy."
