The Cookie Tin Banjo

My Grandpa helped me make my instrument. When Grandpa and I decided what to make, we went to his shed to get our supplies.

Grandpa used the saw to cut the 1x2 maple wood for the handle. I sanded it off with sandpaper. Grandpa took the tin cookie can and cut out parts to fit the handle in.

I put it together and used the drill to put the screws in place. I also put eyelets on the handle for the strings. Grandpa put the string on it tight enough to make sounds when I strum the strings.

I can change the sounds by putting my fingers on the handle and sliding my fingers on the strings to change the pitches high and low.

I can change the dynamics by strumming the strings hard or soft. The timbre of my instrument is mellow and enjoyable.
