The Rockin' Rain Stick

My instrument is called, "The Rockin' Rain Stick." My Mom and I looked on-line for a pattern. Then my Mom went shopping for the stuff I needed for the Rockin' Rain stick. My Mom bought yarn that was camouflage color, a document tube and nails.

My Mom started one nail for me than I finished hammering the nails into the document tube. After the nails were finished then my Mom and I filled the tube with popcorn. Then my Mom started wrapping the yarn on the tube. I wrapped more yarn and my Mom's friend Dana helped me finish wrapping the yarn on the tube. Hammering the nails and filling the tube with corn did not take very long but wrapping the yarn on the tube took a long time.

I tip the rain stick back and forth to make the noise. If I shake the tube it makes a loud dynamics sound. If I just move it slowly it makes a soft smooth dynamics. Shaking the tube very fast makes a high pitch sound. Then when I tilt the tube the pitch is lower.

My Mom thinks the rain stick sounds tinny. My Mom's friend, Dana, says it sounds, "Corny." I think my rain stick sounds brassy.
