The Shaken Shaker

First my mom, dad, Jordan, Shelly my dog and I, all went to the Dollar Store and bought my materials such as sparkling pom pom balls, assorted colored feathers, wired craft ribbon, clear super glue, moon foam cutouts, blue paint, two plastic bowls, a paint brush, and colorful little bells.

The next day, with my paint brush, I painted the two bowls blue with my blue paint. It took two coats of paint before I got the color I wanted. Afterwards, I waited for about 3 hours for the two bowls to dry.

I wanted to have holes drilled into the rim of my shaker so that I could decorate the Shaken Shaker with yarn and bells, so when the bowls were done drying, I marked the eight spots where I wanted them to be drilled through. After that I asked my dad to line the bowls up so he could drill the eight holes that I marked. When my dad was done drilling the holes I found a little tin coffee can and put some rocks, nuts, soybeans, and rice in the tin can. Then I grabbed my clear super glue and glued the tin can in the middle of one bowl. I let the glue sit for awhile until it was dry.

My mom gave me the idea of reinforcing the can with tape just in case the glue does not hold it down. My mom showed me how to put the tape on the tin can and the bowl, and then I did the rest. Subsequently I put 7 of the colorful little bells in the same bowl. After that I squeezed some clear super glue on the same bowl that I was working on, I lined the holes up on each bowl and stuck them together. After I let the Shaken Shaker dry for awhile, I threaded yarn through the holes, after that my mom stringed the colored bells on each piece of the yarn. Then I tied the yarn together.

After that I glued the wired craft ribbon between both of the bowls. When that dried up I put the sparkling pom pom balls, assorted colored feathers, and moon foam cutouts on the Shaken Shaker. Then last but not least I set it down to dry, and started to clean up my mess. All and all the Shaken Shaker took 11 hours including shopping.

After I got the Shaken Shaker finished I started to shake it and tap it.

You can shake or tap it lightly and the dynamics is soft, if you shake or tap it hard the dynamics is loud. You cannot change the pitch on the Shaken Shaker; therefore the pitch will stay low. If you shake the Shaken Shaker hard the timbre is rough, my mom thinks it's discordant, but if you shake the Shaken Shaker lightly it sounds smooth. If you tap the Shaken Shaker lightly the timbre is airy, but if you tap the Shaken Shaker hard it sounds hollow and tinkly.
