Spartan's Banjo

After I chose a banjo my mom washed a bleach bottle. My dad sawed some wood after I measured it. I marked where the wood should go through the bleach bottle. My Dad uses a very sharp knife to cut through the bottle.

Now I slide the wood through my dad goes to get his drill. I drill in the sheet metal screws at the bottom. My dad held the banjo as I drilled holes at the top for the eye hooks, then I tightened them.

Now my dad tied fish line into a special crochet knot. I put it around the screws at the bottom then tied it around the eye hooks. I used a knife to cut slits into the bridge. It didn't sound to good when I first played it. But then my dad had the idea to put the fish line closer together.

So I cut new slits into the bridge and tried it out. It sounded better, but I also put the frets all the way down the wood. I strum it hard to make a loud dynamics. I strum it softer to have a soft sound. To change the pitch you have to strum it and hold the other side down while you keep moving it in. That will make a high pitch.

To make a low pitch you have to do the same thing only move your finger out. The timbre is twangy if you play it a certain way. If you strum it hard it sometimes sounds like a gong. Then the very last thing you do is decorate. My dad and I took turns spray-painting the bottle. I got white tape from my grandpa's house. My dad did the S for Spartans then I did the stripes.
