Kelly's Super Duper Bongo Drum

My instrument was made by me and my Mom. I chose to make a bongo drum. We went shopping for felt, feathers and beads. We went home and put on the felt. We started out with a coffee can. My mom used a hot glue gun to glue the felt on the side of the drum. Then I had an option to fold the felt or to cut the felt. I chose to fold the felt and hot glued the felt to the bottom of the drum. Then I placed the feathers on the side of the drum and my mom hot glued them to the drum. Then I held the beads into place while my mom marked and cut the beads the right length. I chose to cut the beads in half. I folded the beads into half and cut them. Then my mom hot glued them to the drum.

The sound is produced by striking the drum. I can hold the drum and strike it. The drum can also be sat on a stand and be struck. I can also rattle the drum.

I can change the dynamics by tapping or banging it. I can change the pitch by hitting on the center for a low pitch or the edges for a high pitch.

When I shake the drum it sounds very light. When I tap the drum it sounds like the drums in the band. That is the timbre.
