The Wrencher

By Andrew, 6th Grade

My instrument is called The Wrencher it belongs to the percussion family. It falls under that category because you have to hit it to make a noise. To make my instrument I made a wood stand with poles up the ends. Then my Dad helped me drill holes in the top of the poles to wedge a smaller pole into it. Then my dad helped me drill small holes into the small rod to push my string through. At the end of the rope I hung six different wrenches, arranged in length so the sound would be higher in the short wrenches and it would be lower in the longer wrenches. To play my instrument I hit one or more of the wrenches with a small hammer. I decorated my instrument with pennies and I used a wood burner to burn the name of my instrument on it as well as decorative lines.
