THE BASS CHASE By: Jacob J. I got the name for my instrument because I wanted something that rhymed and it's more of a bass then a guitar. I used a wood board, some old violin strings, 4 guitar strings, and a tuna can. I got them from Lowes, and my local music store. I needed to use a hammer and a screwdriver. I cut the long, thin, board in half, and sanded down some little stilts for the strings. I screwed 4 holes in the top to put the strings in. Then I put the strings in and hammered 4 violin pegs in so it would stick. Then I put a can under the strings. Then I painted it. I put S.M.S. (the initials of my school) at the bottom and flames around it. I also put squiggles on the can. My instrument belongs to the string family. If you put pressure on the strings and then strum it, it makes a deep sound. If you take your hands off it, then strum, it makes a higher sound. It plays pretty loud depending on the strength you put on the strings. My dad helped me put my instrument together. He helped me use the tools in my instrument. Putting the strings in the holes. I had to put them in and put a tuna can on. Then I had to pound some violin pegs in. |
