THE BELLACA By: Megan Falk The name of my instrument is the Bellaca. I got the idea of making my instrument from my mom. The materials I used were newspaper, flour, water, ribbon, gems, foam paint and sparkly paint. I got my materials at Michael's and at my house. The tools I used were the stove and scissors. The steps I used to make the Bellaca were: 1. First, cut up newspaper in strips and blow up a balloon. 2. Next, pour boiling water in flour and dip the newspaper strips in the flour. 3. Wrap the newspaper around the balloon. 4. Repeat until balloon is completely covered. 5. Wait three days to dry. 6. Then paint and decorate it. 7. Pop the balloon inside. 8. Attach ribbon to Bellaca. I decorated my instrument by adding gems, paint, sparkly paint, and foamy paint. My instrument is in the maraca family. Shaking it produces the sound. It can only make one sound. The sound is very loud. My instrument sounds like waves hitting land. My mom helped me with my instrument by boiling the flour and cutting the newspaper. The biggest problem was trying to get it dry in time to come to school. |
