BLOWAPHONE By: Alex D. The name of my instrument is The
Blowaphone. I got the idea from the sound it
makes. Once I made it I blew in it and it sounded like
a xylophone. I got the idea from my step dad. He
asked me if I liked the idea and I said yes. The items
I used were pipe, pipe cutters, solder wire and a
torch. I got my materials from Meijer. The tools I
used are torch and a pipe cutter. To make my instrument I first
cut different lengths of pipe. The next step was to
solder some caps on. The third step was to solder all
the different length pipes together. I rubbed the
outside of it to make it shine. To solder it, I took
solder wire and I applied heat. Then I stuck it to the
copper and it melted. My instrument belongs to the
wind family. It makes a whistling sound. My
instrument has 10 different pitches. It sounds like a
xylophone and each different tube makes a different
pitch. My sound varies according to how I blow into
it.
