CLAVE MARACA By: Kristin B. The name of my instrument is a Clave Maraca. My inspiration on my instrument was I wanted to make a shaking sound. I used a little box, dry rice, two wooden sticks, and yellow, green, and gold paint. I bought all my, materials from Michael's. The only tool I used was a pair of pliers. I started to paint my box, then I cut holes for the handles, then I put rice inside of it and hot glued everything together.  Then, I painted my name on the box and made decorations all over it, even on the sticks.  I decorated like all kinds of lines on the top of the box. My instrument is in the percussion family. To make the sound you have to shake it. My instrument can make two noises. It can make a soft shaking sound and it can make a loud hitting sound. The sounds can be both loud and quiet. Nobody helped me with my instrument. I did all of it by myself.  I did have a little bit of trouble. The hot glue from the glue gun kept burning me.  An even bigger problem happened, too.  I cut myself with the pliers too.
