CLAVES By:  Riaz N. The name of my instrument is Claves. I got this idea from my Creative Expressions teacher. I used wood, paint, and tape to make my instrument. I got my materials from Home Depot.  The tool I needed to make this instrument was a saw to cut the wood. The steps I used to make this instrument were: I got wood then I got cut the wood to about 10 inches. Next I spray-painted the wood sticks. Then I let the paint dry for one day.  Next I put tape spiraling up the sticks. Then I painted the sticks a different color over the tape. Then I let the paint dry and took the paint off the sticks and the sticks were done. I used contrasting paint to decorate my instrument. My instrument belongs to the percussion family.  My instrument makes a wood hitting wood sound. Hitting the wood together produces the sound. The sound is loud. My dad helped me make this instrument. He helped me by holding the wood sticks while I spray-painted the sticks. The biggest problem with making my instrument was getting the second layer of paint to not flake off when it dries.
