By: Rebecca O. The name of my instrument is the Silver Flowered
Drums. I got the idea for my instrument because I wanted to
make drums but I wasn't how to make it or what I wanted it
to sound like. And then I remembered all the tin cans we had
in the recycling bin. So I grabbed one and tried hitting it
with my chopsticks and it sounded perfect. The materials I
used in my instrument were tin cans, chopsticks, hot glue,
cardboard, tin foil, and foam stickers. I got my materials
places around my house. The tools I used to make my
instrument were scissors and a hot glue gun. The steps in the process of assembling my instrument
were getting all the supplies, thinking about which cans I
liked the sound of, decorating the cans and everything,
thinking about how I wanted them, and putting it all
together. The way I decorated my instrument was with tin
foil and colorful foam stickers so that when you see the
bright colors against the silver of the cans and foil, it
almost pops. The family my instrument belongs to is the percussion
family. My sound is produced by hitting the tin cans with
the chopsticks. My instrument can make up to six (6)
possible pitches. The tone quality of my
instrument is like bells or chimes maybe. The volume of my
instrument is neither soft nor loud so it is medium. The person who helped me make my instrument was
mother. My mom helped by decorating some cans, hot gluing
them on the platform and gave lots of idea options. There
really weren't any problems with making my instrument
besides ideas.
