THE DRUMS By:  Katherine Q. The name of my instrument is The Drums.  I got the idea of making this instrument when I thought of how many different sounds a drum could make.  I used a round cookie container and different colored pieces of paper to decorate it.  My cookie container came from the closet and the colored paper came from my shelf.  The tools I needed to use were tape and scissors. To make my drum, First I got a cookie container and decorated it with blue, white and purple pieces of paper.  For the lid, I placed purple paper overlapping other scraps.  Around the container I made a pattern of the blue and white scraps.  It made the drum more colorful and brighter. My instrument belongs to the perfusion family.  My drum makes a quick, low, vibrating sound.  If you bang it, it will make a low and short sound.  And depending where you bang it, it makes a different sound.  My drum can make many sounds and it depends on the power you use to bang it for how loud it is. Nobody helped me with making my instrument.  The biggest problem with making my instrument was balancing the scraps of paper on the side of the container before I taped it on.  It was hard to make it balance on the curved side.
