THING-A-MA-BOBBER By: Shelby S. My instrument's name is the Thing-A-Ma-Bobber. It's
called that because there are many different parts to the
Thing-A-Ma-Bobber. My idea originated at a cheer
competition. There was banging, shaking, pounding, and
stomping. I really liked how it sounded. So, I decided to
put them all together. The tools I used were beads, bottles,
tin cans, a broomstick, rubber bands, containers, a
trashcan, and others. I got all the materials from around
the house. I used tape and a hot glue gun. I used several different steps while making this
instrument. After I put on the broomstick on the trashcan, I
had to attach all the other sounds. I also added musical
notes on the base, and made it shine, with shiny tape
. My instrument makes a few different sounds. I have a
drum, a triangle, a shaker, a tambourine, a boingy sound,
and a strumming sound. Mostly, you just have to hit the
thing with a drum stick, but only for the guitar you have to
strum. It can make 6 different sounds. Some of the sounds
are loud, and some are soft. For example, the drum
makes a deep sound, the triangle makes a high sound, the
shaker makes a high sound, and the tambourine makes a high
pitch sound. The tone quality is noisy. My older sister Rachel
helped me gather the items, and attach them. My friend
Nick helped me come up with a name. The biggest problem with
my instrument was making it balance. I ended up adding a few
extra sounds, just because I needed extra weight on one
side.
