THE WEASEL BELL By: Ben S. The name of my instrument is the Weasel Bell because
my instrument like a weasel makes a high pitched sound. I
got the idea of making the chimes from two people, my mom
and my teacher. My teacher gave me a page with the
measurements of pipe and wood for the
do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do sound. My mom said to use the paper to make a chime so we
made it. I used a four-foot pipe, a cylinder wood pole, some
paint, string, and grip tape. My mom cut the pipe into 10
pieces at the exact height of the measurements with a buzz
saw while I painted and drilled holes into the wooden
cylinder. Then I sanded the metal and tied the wood and
metal and taped it together with super grip and hold tape. I
got my materials at Home Depot. My instrument belongs in the percussion family of
musical instruments because you hit the bells with a
drumstick and it makes a ding sound. Also, it makes a very
loud sound if it was not touching anything while it is
vibrating. The biggest problem with making my instrument was
while I was drilling the wood in the garage my sister Meghan
and my brother Jordan got in a fight and my brother used the
giant metal pole as a weapon and he bent it but my mom
unbent it and we continued with the process of making the
instrument.
